Welch Offers Status Update Of OgallalaToday, more on the status of our water supply. Kirk Welch is the assistant general manager at the North Plains Groundwater Conservation District and recently told KXDJ’s Chris Samples, “Nothing new here in that the Ogallala continues to decline. There are obviously a myriad of strategies that everybody’s looking at to try and slow the decline. But certainly, south of our district, we see a much more extreme decline and here in our area, clearly from one section to another, there can be a significant difference. That is a characteristic of the aquifer itself.” More can be heard here.Welch added, “Without a doubt, the formation itself yields more water in some places than it does in others.” |

Father Swears Son In As PostmasterBy Pearl Chambers On April 12th, 2024 in Dumas, Texas, a heartwarming moment took place at the local post office as a father proudly swore in his son as the new postmaster of Dumas Texas. The father, James Chambers, has worked at the post office for over 30 years and had seen his fair share of challenges and successes. Mr. Chambers, a Postmaster of Fort Myers’s Florida, also served as a Postmaster of Amarillo Texas. His dedication and hard work have earned him the respect of his colleagues and the community. His son, Quaid Chambers, has grown up watching his father go to work every day with a sense of pride and purpose. He admired his father's work ethic and determination, and it inspired him to follow in his footsteps. After years of hard work and dedication, Quaid has finally achieved a dream of becoming a Postmaster. On this special day, his father had the honor of swearing him in. As Quaid stood before his colleagues, friends and family, his father beamed with pride as he administered the oath of office to his son. It was a moment that will be cherished for years to come, a symbol of a father's love and a son's determination to make him proud. The Chambers family stood together, united in their commitment to serving their community through the post office. Officer Of The Month--Officer Dimontray Sibley – Dumas Police DepartmentMoore County Crime Stoppers would like to recognize Officer Dimontray Sibley as the Officer of the Month. Officer Sibley is a new addition to the Dumas Police Department, having previously served as an Officer with the Pampa Police Department. Recently, Officer Sibley was dispatched with another Officer to a structure fire call in Dumas. The following details have been gathered from an article by Mr. John Key of the Moore County News Press in the March 9-10, 2024 edition, and describe Officer Sibley’s recent actions that earned him the spot as the Moore County Crime Stoppers Officer of the Month! It is worth noting that at the time Officer Sibley responded to the call detailed in this post, he had not even been formally sworn-in as an Officer of the DPD yet. In January, a house trailer between NW 3rd and NW 4th caught fire and, despite the efforts of firefighters, eventually burned to the ground. As firefighters and police arrived on scene, a man who lived in the trailer was lying “incapacitated” on the ground behind the structure out of sight as the flames began to engulf it. Officer Sibley arrived on scene and heard a call for help and, “without hesitation,” ran to assist the man in need. Officer Sibley is credited with “saving him from further injury and possible death.” Officer Sibley and his shift Sergeant, Sgt. Osvaldo Barba, were able to get the man to a safe place where personnel from Moore County Emergency Medical Services were able to begin treating him for smoke inhalation and then transport him to the hospital for further care. Officer Sibley was later awarded a department-level Meritorious Service Commendation during a Dumas City Commission meeting, where he was also formally sworn-in as a Dumas Police Officer. Officer Sibley’s actions on this call are a shining example of what it means to be a public servant, and we look forward to the great things he will continue to do for our community as a Dumas PD Officer! If you see Officer Sibley out and about, shake his hand and let him know that Moore County appreciates the job he does for our community. Congratulations Officer Sibley on being selected as the Moore County Crime Stoppers Officer of the Month! |

During my high school years, I began offering welding and fabrication services, specializing in building and selling prefabricated fence braces. After obtaining my driver’s license, I expanded my services to include mobile welding, which opened the door to pipe fence construction. Fencing quickly became my passion, and I invested in acquiring the necessary equipment to complete fencing projects efficiently.
